Domiciliary Medical Oxygen Cylinders
As from Monday 5th May 2025 Multigas will take over the supply of medical oxygen in cylinders to Patients authorised to be on the Government Domiciliary Home Oxygen service. This service provides patients with medical oxygen cylinders for home oxygen therapy. Together with the cylinder the patient will also be given an oxygen regulator and mask. Patients need to be first authorised by Mater Dei Hospital / Gozo General Hospital Pharmacies to make use of the Government Domiciliary Home Oxygen service.
Patients making use of the Government home oxygen service before Monday 5th May 2025
To facilitate the changeover process from the current provider to Multigas Ltd., patients or their representatives are required to return their Poligas Ltd. domiciliary oxygen cylinder/s and flow meter/s as follows:
- Clients residing in Malta need to return the cylinder/s and flow meter/s to CPSU Stores San Gwann, between Monday and Saturday between 8:00 am and 2:00 pm.
-
- UB002, San Gwann Industrial Estate San Gwann, SGN 3000
- Aldo Sciberras and Mr. Sandro Spiteri - 2540 4199/ 4137/ 4198/4196
- sciberras.1@gov.mt, sandro.a.spiteri@gov.mt
To avoid queues at the community Pharmacies, the first Multigas oxygen cylinder & flowmeter should then be collected from Multigas at Triq l-Industrija, Kirkop (t: 2249 2000; e: sales@multigas.com) from Monday to Friday from 9:00 am and 1:00 pm (except Wed 7th May 2025). Alternatively from the Authorised Pharmacies above.
- Clients residing in Gozo need to return the cylinder/s and flow meter/s to Matthew Bajada (contact numbers 2344 6210 or via e-mail matthew.bajada@gov.mt) at Gozo General Hospital Engineering Division, between Monday and Friday between 7:30 am and 1:00 pm. Gozo General Hospital is only being involved in the changeover process to remove any inconvenience for Gozitan clients. Subsequent exchanges will continue to be provided from Għajnsielem Pharmacy.
In each case, a transfer deposit voucher will be given by CPSU/Gozo General Hospital for each returned cylinder and flow meter, which is to be given to Multigas or Multigas-authorised pharmacies to cover the expense of the refundable equipment deposit required by Multigas Ltd.
Patients will be able to return their Poligas Ltd. cylinder/s and flow meter/s to CPSU/Gozo General Hospital until Friday 30th May 2025.
It is imperative that clients ensure that they have a valid prescription for medical oxygen, when going to collect their first cylinder, flow meter and consumables from Multigas or Multigas-authorised pharmacies in Malta and Gozo. The prescription for medical oxygen, presented to the service provider, is valid for a period of six (6) months from the date of issue.
It is also important for patients who make use of the home delivery service of Domiciliary Oxygen to follow the above instructions during the changeover period. Home deliveries will continue as usual, after the client has exchanged the first cylinder.
Although during this transition period, patients can exchange Poligas Ltd. cylinders at Poligas Ltd., they need to ensure that they are registered at Multigas Ltd. by Friday 30th May 2025. After the 30th May 2025, patients still holding a Poligas Ltd. cylinder will have to pay a new refundable deposit of €90 per cylinder at Anici Pharmacy / Qawra Pharmacy / Għajnsielem Pharmacy in order to begin exchanging domiciliary oxygen cylinders at the new service provider. It will be no longer possible to collect cylinders from Multigas Kirkop. Such patients will then have to make their own arrangements to return Poligas cylinder/s and flowmeter/s to Poligas Ltd. and to request a refund for the deposit given to Poligas Ltd. at initiation of the previous contract with Poligas Ltd.
Those clients who only need to terminate an existent contract, must return all equipment i.e. cylinder/s and flow meter/s to Poligas Ltd. and request a refund for the deposit given to Poligas Ltd. at initiation of the previous contract with Poligas Ltd.
For any queries, one can contact CPSU and Multigas Ltd. using the contact details above.
