Last 25th August 2026, Multigas has successfully delivered and erected a new bulk liquid oxygen tank at St. Vincent de Paul (SVP), marking a major operational milestone in the ongoing project to reinforce the facility's medical gas infrastructure.
This installation represents a critical step in building a more resilient, continuous oxygen supply for SVP as its role within Malta’s healthcare sector continues to expand. The facility has evolved into an essential provider of intermediate care, catering to patients who require more specialized, high-dependency attention than standard residential care homes offer, without necessitating acute admission at Mater Dei Hospital.
Historically, SVP’s growing oxygen demand relied heavily on gas cylinders, creating increasingly complex delivery logistics. Following initial integration efforts that connected select wards to an existing smaller Vacuum Insulated Evaporator (VIE) system, Multigas was commissioned to design and install this second liquid oxygen VIE unit.
Once fully operational, the addition of this second VIE tank will establish a redundant, dual-tank supply architecture across the complex. This dual-source resilience significantly reduces the facility's routine reliance on cylinder deliveries, ensuring uninterrupted medical oxygen delivery and greater peace of mind for both care staff and patients.
